    Fractal FM9

Posted by Michael B Paasche on 4th Aug 2023

I was finally able to order my FM9 after being on the waitlist for a few months and it was totally worth it! This pedal has the best tones hands down and plentyof capabilities to fine tune whatever sound you're chasing! I've owned a Helix and a Quad Cortex and this pedal is in a league of its own. The features on FM9 Edit are awesome and make programming your sound very easy, but the presets that came with it are amazing as is! Couldn't be happier so far with this purchase.

    Simply the best!

Best Amp Modeling / Multi-FX floor unit available on the market, absolutely worth the wait. Loving the amazing quality of the sound and the great selection of presets. Just like Cooper says, you can start digging into the presets, and scenes and hours can go by without notice. Excellent product, great company!

Fantastic piece of gear for the working, gigging guitarist. There is a learning curve but once you spend some time with the unit and the FM9 edit, the sky is the limit. I’m selling my amp and pedals this weekend. This thing sounds incredible.

    FM9 Turbo

I’ve had almost everything including Helix, QC, dual tube amps, and a $6k pedal board. For me and my ears this beats them all including my dual amp rig. The end resulting sound that comes out of the PA is more consistent, just as rich and full, and much easier to manage both from weight and individual settings. Don’t be afraid of the fractal menu, invest in this unit and it will reward you in every way musically. Check out the Cooper Carter master class, learn it well, and be blown away by maybe the last floor board you’ll ever need! Until Fractal comes out with the next gen that is ;)

I've had it for a month now and this is by far the most inspiring piece of equipment I have ever purchased. I've only scratched the surface, but this thing makes you want to play more and play better. Thank You! I'm in Awe!

    FM9

First off, I am a die heart tub amp guy. I have about 25 amps in my studio…. Fender’s, Marshall’s, Boogie’s, Freidman’s, Tone King, Engl, PRS, Bogner, Traynor, etc. I also used these amps on the road when touring. I would tweak my amps to get the tones I loved by re-tubing to find the right tube for the right amp, setting my Bias (I like to run a little hot), Mercury transformers, finding the right speaker, ect… One day (about 5-7 years ago, I had someone bring a Fractal Axe 2 to my studio. The tone quality wasn’t quite there for me. Years later, someone brought a Fractal Axe FX 3 to the studio. Now your talking! He left it for me to play with it for a week and I absolutely loved the tones I was getting. I week later I bought an Axe FX3. I loved the fact that I could start with some awesome preset, then I could tweak them to my favorite sound/tomes. I now have all of my studio amps set up in my Axe FX 3, and I also use it when I tour or play local gigs. When I was looking into the Fractal FM9, I thought I would try a couple others to first company to the Fractal. I tried the Kemper (which we rated #2), the Helix, the Quad Cortex, and a couple others. The Fractal and the Kemper were pretty close, but the Fractal’s effect and versatility where better in sound quality (deeper, richer) and more versatile. I brought over my sound engineering friends to listen and compare. We all agreed that on the Fractal. One person did by the Kemper (because he was not a tweaking guy or a computer guy). I ended up going with the Fractal FM9 Turbo. The Fractal is extremely powerful in how you can set it up… You can set up “Presets” that have “Scenes” (Scenes will not disturb you effect chain while switching between scenes within a Preset), you can have “Modifiers” and “Scene Controls”. It is extremely powerful. Pretty much, if you can dream up a configuration, you can do it with the Fractal. I also like the fact that I can import my Axe FX3 configuration directly into the FM9. That saved me a lot of time! Another cool thing is that I connected my FC6 to the “FASLINK II” connector and was able to access other “Layout” while my FM9 was on a different layout. I put my “Presets” and “Scenes” on the FM9 Layout #1 and my favorite effect on Layout #3 on the FC6. This gave me quick access to everything I needed during a performance, without having to page through my foot pedal. I highly recommend the FM9 Turbo or the Axe FX3!!! I consider them superior to any other product on the market at this point in time. FYI… I also bought an FM3, but am not a big fan.

    FM9 is no joke

The thing is a game changer. A floor unit with enough processing power that can handle nearly any rig modeling situation I deal, without reaching limits. Now, my rack can stay in studio and do only studio works! Best of both worlds
