FM9 Turbo - Amp Modeler / Multi-FX / Floor Unit - B Stock

I appreciate the attention to detail fractal puts forward in their products and the fm9 is no exception. Starting with the build, this thing is a tank. The housing is solid and does not dent or flex. The finish is very tough and scratch resistant and doesn’t show scuffs either. Moving on to the function, this unit can make any idea a possibility. I know these units are criticized for how many parameters they allow you to tweak, but I appreciate it. The best part is you can make it as simple as you want to just bmt. This unit is reliable in cold conditions out of a cold trailer and in the hot summer festival sun and delivers reliability. This unit has made my load in, load out Simple and affords me more time to focus on playing. Sound engineers appreciate the quick direct in with no stage volume but still great tone. This pedal is truly something to be appreciated from the people listening to the people running the show. Thanks fractal for helping me give me the tools to sound my best and looks the best with pro gear.

It's a dream to just think that I own the Fractal FM9. I am still in the process to learn how to use the product at its full potential. Amazing, but how in the world did I wait 8 months and spend over $1800 on this thing and it didn't even come with a $2 USB cable? Come on, man.

Coming from the FM3, this thing is a godsend - never has my tone been so good and the switches allow the best workflow for both live and studio use. I can usually find flaws in anything but this is a home run. If I had to nitpick it would be to include a channels layout in the OMFM9G configuration but other than that I’m a happy camper.

I love my Axe-fx 3 mkii turbo. It is the best piece of gear I’ve ever owned. The FM9 has a few less blocks and cpu power, but what it lacks it gains in portability. Using it this week on gigs and already it is a god send. Playing a very small stage tonight, and this is a much more convenient unit. Thank you fractal audio and everyone that helped out to make this come to fruition!

I was blown away at how lush the tones were once I found the unit volume knob (duh). Also very pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to build and tweak presets. I thought it would be overwhelming but with some basic instructions and suggestions on the internet it's actually quite straight forward. You can make it as simple or dive as deep as you care to explore.

First off I would like to thank all the people at Fractal Audio for their hard work in developing such an outstanding piece of audio gear. Second, I would like to mention that I am not new to amp modeling and my previous initial experiences with this technology in the units I purchased and some I've seen in YouTube videos have been less than spectacular. Most of the units came with, in my honest opinion, a lot of lousy amp and cabinet tones along with some lousy effects sounds. A lot of them were just cheesy sounding. However, what I learned was that you have to learn your device well and dial in your tone. So even with the earlier generation modelers with their much more limited processing power, it was still possible to dial in a somewhat convincing amp and cabinet tone along with the effects. It was just that it was much more challenging and time consuming. This now has lead me to my current initial experience with the Fractal FM9 Amp Modeler. Let me just say this, unlike my previous experiences with amp modelers, out of the box the majority of the presets in this device sound AWESOME! The other small percentage are good but are just not my cup of tea. I actually went through every single preset over a span of days in the FM9 to come to this conclusion. It's a GIANT of an amp modeler. I would also like to mention, and not to sound cliché, but the FM9 is built like a TANK! With this review I realize that I only touched the tip of the iceberg by getting acquainted with the unit by listening to the factory installed presets and learning how to switch between presets and scenes. I hope to have a followup review or reviews as time goes on and I get more knowledgeable with the unit. Great job guys!
